In the department of Electrical & Systems Engineering, graduate student Justin Ruths works on the theoretical formulation for optimal control of MRI pulse sequences to increase contrast, speed, and effectiveness of the MRI imaging process. “We have just started research into global climate change and investigating what systems science can contribute to this issue. We will investigate the stability and inherent system characteristics of mathematical models for the earth's atmosphere and carbon cycle," he says.
